Many thanks to the more than 900 residents and homeowners of Londonderry and neighboring towns who signed the petition supporting a moratorium on industrial wind power projects in Vermont!    Letter to the GovernorThe PetitionCover letter explaining petition.

Glebe Mountain Group for the Preservation of Glebe Mountain Ridge

Mission:

“The Glebe Mountain Group is a voluntary association of persons in the Glebe Mountain  region who are concerned about a proposal by Catamount Energy, LLP (an unregulated and wholly owned subsidiary of Central Vermont Public Service) to construct 27 wind turbines along 3.5 miles of the Glebe Mountain ridgeline in Londonderry, Vermont. The purpose of the Glebe Mountain Group is to increase public awareness about the limitations of wind generation and the environmental and economic implications of such projects in Vermont.

Glebe Mountain Group believes that fragile high elevation habitats and important scenic resources should be preserved and protected for future generations. We believe that wind energy proponents have the burden to demonstrate that there is a compelling reason to sacrifice these public resources for an energy source of limited potential. Any claims of public benefit must be critically analyzed within the Vermont context. “

It is important that the Glebe Mountain Group present one consistent and uniform voice to the public.  Therefore any written documents under the name of the Glebe Mountain Group should be approved before release.  This is in no way meant to limit a member's ability to express his/her own opinion independent of the group.  We encourage GMG members, under their own name,  to write and speak often with public officials, neighbors and friends.
